An improved wheat variety grows in the field in Islamabad, Pakistan. The variety, known as NARC-2009, is based on a wheat line developed by CIMMYT and shared with partners as part of an international nursery distributed by CIMMYT's International Wheat Improvement Network (IWIN). Following testing and evaluation, it was released as a commercial variety in 2009 by Pakistan's National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), Islamabad, under its wheat program for rainfed areas. As well as giving high yields, NARC-2009 is drought tolerant, resistant to the diseases stripe and leaf rust, and has good grain quality.

नवी दिल्ली (वृत्तसंस्था) : यावर्षीच्या कृषी हंगामात यवतमाळ जिल्ह्यात बोंडअळीचा प्रादुर्भाव दिसू नये यासाठी कृषी विभागानं नियोजन सुरु करावं असे निर्देश जिल्हाधिकारी अमोल येडगे यांनी दिले आहे. येडगे यांनी बोंड अळी आणि बोंड सड व्यवस्थापनाबाबत आढावा बैठक घेतली त्यावेळई ते बोलत होते.
कापूस पिकाखालच्या फरदडीचं निर्मूलन करावं, फेरोमोन ट्रॅप्स लावावेत, आणि पूर्वहंगामी लागवड टाळण्यासारखे पर्याय अमलात आणावेत अशी सूचना त्यांनी केली.
शेतकऱ्यांनी माती परीक्षण करून, त्यानुसारच आपल्या शेतात खतांचा वापर करावा, तसंच युरियाचा अवाजवी वापर टाळावा असंही त्यांनी सूचवलं.
यावर्षी चांगला पाऊस होणार असल्याचे संकेत हवामान विभागानं दिले असल्याची माहिती त्यांनी दिली आहे.
